Caring Committee

Rooted in Compassion, Defined by Connection

At Emanu-El, we view our congregation as a family. Our tradition calls us to show up for one another – to amplify each other’s joys, offer strength during illness, and provide comfort in times of grief. The Chesed Committee is the heart of this mission, ensuring that no member of our community walks through a life transition alone.

Mitzvah Meals

Food is more than nourishment; it is a gesture of love and community. Our Mitzvah Meals program supports families navigating personal transitions, such as recovering from surgery, managing an illness, or welcoming a new baby.

  • How you can help: We are always looking for volunteers to shop, cook, bake, or deliver meals. Your time makes a tangible difference in a neighbor’s life.
  • How we can help you: If you or someone you know could benefit from the support of a Mitzvah Meal, please reach out. We are here for you.

Ozrim Committee: Delivering Connection

Our Ozrim volunteers reach out to members who are unable to attend services or synagogue events in person. Twice a year, we visit congregants to deliver a plant and, more importantly, a friendly conversation. These visits bridge the gap between our building and our members’ homes, ensuring everyone remains a vital part of the Emanu-El circle.

Get Involved

The strength of our caring community depends on the hands and hearts of our volunteers. Whether you can deliver a meal, visit a homebound member, or contribute to the Elaine Callif Mitzvah Meal Fund [LINK], your involvement keeps our community whole.

  • Volunteer: Join our cadre of volunteers to shop, cook, or visit.
  • Request Support: If you know a congregational family member who would benefit from a visit or a meal, please let us know.
