Whether you’re exploring Judaism for the first time, returning after years away, or continuing a lifelong journey, you have a place at Emanu-El.
We embrace who you are: regardless if you are from a traditional or unconventional background, are part of an interfaith family or the LGBTQ+ community, identify as a Jew of Color, have Ashkenazi or Sephardic roots or are still growing Jewish roots, have a disability, grew up in an Orthodox, Conservative, Reconstructionist, Reform, skeptical, multi-faith or non-Jewish home, have been immersed in Judaism since birth, recently joined our Jewish community or are interested in learning about Judaism.
We welcome all seekers:
those who are Jewish,
those who are on Jewish journeys,
and those who have joined with others on their Jewish journeys.
At Emanu-El, we believe belonging is a gift freely offered, not something you have to earn. Our community is a spiritual home for those seeking meaning, tradition, and connection without barriers or conditions.
We operate on a philosophy of Mission-Based Giving. This means we invite you to make an annual financial commitment that reflects what this congregation means to you, your family, and the future of Jewish life.
Our approach to membership is rooted in our core principles:
It is an invitation to invest in Emanu-El based on your personal connection to our community and your commitment to Jewish continuity. We hope that Emanu-El becomes a primary destination for your charitable heart.
Maintaining our vibrant programming, beautiful facility, and dedicated clergy requires significant resources. While a sustaining contribution is approximately $4,000 per year per family, we recognize that every household’s situation is unique. Many families contribute more, and others contribute less.
Financial hardship is never a barrier to membership. We simply ask that you give according to your capability, making Emanu-El one of your meaningful commitments.
Yes. While your membership commitment supports our daily operations, we continue traditional appeals for specific needs, such as the High Holy Days Appeal and the annual Cantor’s concert.
There are also many opportunities for congregants to give their time in support of synagogue activities and events. We encourage everyone to get involved in a way that works for them.
Whether you’re a lifelong Milwaukeean or new to the area, there’s a place with your name on it here.

We can’t wait to welcome you home.
