Member Stories

Every Story Belongs

At the heart of Emanu-El are the people who make it home. Our members are young families, lifelong learners, new arrivals, and longtime leaders, each with a unique story of why this community matters. Explore their journeys and see how belonging looks in real life.

Inclusion in Action

The Power of Inclusion: Reflections from Brian’s Bar Mitzvah Weekend by Jen Bergman

In this HaKol article read about the many ways that our community made a congregant’s family feel welcome during her son’s Bar Mitzvah.

Multigenerational Members

We have many families that span three generations of members with programming geared towards each generation and across the generations.

“I love being at Emanu-El with my parents and my children. Celebrating lifecycle events with our extended family and Emanu-El community has been amazing.” – President Tamar Kelber

Member Journeys

On Yom Kippur we ask a few people to talk about their Jewish journeys during our afternoon service. Watch this video as one of our Jewish-adjacent members tells his story.

Honoring Our Veterans

Annually we honor our Veterans – members, previous members and family members of congregants – at a special Shabbat Service. Our Brotherhood has collected biographies of those individuals so that we may pay tribute to them by reading their stories.
